Dean Adams brings 35 years of global marketing experience in industries including industrial manufacturing, health care, electronics, consumer, automotive, marine, and printing. As the Director of Corporate Brand Management at 3M, he was responsible for 3M’s corporate brand strategy, architecture, and policy as well as business unit development of global strategic brands and strategies. His active leadership increased the focus and concentrated resources directed at strategic brands and resulted in sustained, profitable growth and increased market share.
Dean has developed strategies for major brands including 3M®, Scotch®, Otto Bock®, AAA® and Post-it®, launched products, marketing campaigns and corporate strategies in every major region of the world. He responds to the needs of diverse cultures, keeping the global business team aligned to deliver the brand promise experience.
Dean has led brand teams creating understanding of the end user customer’s expectations of the brand, leading to strategies and programs that have grown the brand, inspired new products, and expanded the business.
Dean has developed leading edge marketing and brand management processes and tools that have enabled brands to increase perceived value for end customers generate greater brand loyalty and drive sales and profits.
He speaks frequently on brand management to audiences that include The Conference Board in the U.S., Canada, and Europe, Forbes Management Forum, the Advertising Research Foundation, American Marketing Association, International Trademark Association, Direct Marketing Association, and at universities including Stanford, Penn State, University of Chicago, Thunderbird School of Global Management, and the University of Minnesota.
